Hearts and Minds
After assembling in to a group of four, we made a script together about a topic we got to choose. We chose the European economy. We talked about having refugees in the European countries. We had to make a video using our script, and the requirements were to be in the film for 30sec, and the film needs to be at least 20 min long. We are still in the doing this project.
Hannah, Grace, Max, Connor R.
Heart of Minds Script
Scene:1 The European government gets together in their parliament and discussed about everyone needing to take refuges in.
(Take place in parliament)
(Hannah- Says to the council) We cannot allow these refugees to enter our country. They will be a huge obstruction to our country’s economy. (Assertion)
(Connor- Representing Russia) Also, we need to make sure we are not overpopulated. Having to support these refugees could crash our economy.
(Grace- tries to argue against this statements) And think about the citizens. They will have to deal with these strangers on their once clean streets. They don't need to house these people and pay for their food and housing
Scene:2 The people of the country are angry about having these refugees coming into their countries.
(Testimonial)
(Max-city resident): I don’t want these people in my city, it makes Russia look poor and like we don't know what to do with these refugees. I think that we’re better than this.
(Hannah-city resident): I think we should have a say in who comes into our city. I don’t want these refugees entering and taking my money when I barely have enough for my own family.
(Grace-city resident) I definitely agree, I feel like these people should be able to provide for themselves. As collective people, we will have to pay for all their housing and food.
(Connor- city resident) I can barely afford living in this country myself. How could I be expected to pay for a bunch of strangers too?
Scene:3 In the European parliament Slovakia's prime minister, Robert Fico, says his country will accept only Christian refugees
(Takes places in parliament)
(Max- Robert Fico) If we must take in refugees, I will only take in Christian refugees. I believe that only these people should be allowed in my country. Representing my country as a whole, we are a Christian nation.
(Connor-) The parliament can only hold the christian refugees to support our Christian nation. Our nation is what hold as a European government.
(Grace-city resident) What happens when we want change, what will we do if we can not take in anymore refugees, how will our community change to the different refugees culture and heritage.
(Max-Robert) The refuges want to be allowed into our country, they must listen to our rules and they need to understand why we have rules and what they're for.
Scene 4: Convincing the audience that this is the right thing to do
(Takes place in the council)
(Connor- The council) Bringing these refugees in our country will not only damage the economy, it will have the citizens feeling like their nationality is being compromised.
(Hannah- The council) I agree with you if we bring in the refugees it will make the global economy crash if we don't come up with a solution.
